Gunung Angsi
Details
Gunung Angsi is one of the most accessible and popular hiking mountains in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Standing at about 825 metres above sea level, it is often recommended for beginners who are ready to transition into more challenging mountain hikes while still being manageable within a half-day trip. The most commonly used trail begins from Bukit Putus or Ulu Bendul, with the Ulu Bendul route being the more popular and well-maintained option. The hike starts with a gradual ascent through lush tropical rainforest, where hikers are immediately immersed in dense greenery, tall trees, and a cool forest atmosphere. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper with sections of root-filled paths, rocky climbs, and occasional muddy patches after rainfall. Several rest shelters are available along the way, making it easier for hikers to pace themselves during the ascent. The final stretch toward the summit is a continuous climb that can be physically demanding but remains non-technical. At the summit of Gunung Angsi, hikers are greeted with a modest clearing surrounded by forest, offering limited but refreshing views depending on weather conditions. While it does not provide expansive panoramic views like higher peaks such as Gunung Nuang or Gunung Datuk, the sense of achievement and peaceful forest environment make it a rewarding destination. Gunung Angsi is especially popular due to its balance between accessibility and challenge. It is commonly used by hikers for training, fitness building, and short weekend hikes. With proper pacing and hydration, most hikers can complete the trek within a few hours, making it one of the best introductory mountains in the region.
